Fabric Storage, Oh my!

Image
Happy Thursday!  Lorrie here, and I am pondering how to store my ever growing stash of fabric.  I have been a papercrafter for years and set up my room as a papercrafter.  I started sewing just a few months ago and now I am struggling with what to do with all of the fabric, interfacing, trimmings, etc. that have already started to gather.  I turned to Pinterest for a few ideas.  I love this set up by All People Quilt .  The fabric is covered so that it doesn't collect dust and it is protected from getting sun bleached. or this idea from " Indulging My Creative Side" blog.  How gorgeous is this!  I would love to be able to see all of my fabric and have it organized like this beautiful set up. I could look at fabric storage ideas all day.  It makes me happy to see all that yumminess just waiting to be used to create something beautiful.  The problem I am having is my room is full of papercrafting supplies, which I am not ready to part with, I still papercraf

Pumpkin Dump Cake - You gotta try this!

Image
It's Tuesday and that means another recipe on the blog.  Today, I'm sharing one of my favorites desserts..... (Enter pumpkin dump cake). You have got to try this amazing recipe. It is ooey, it is gooey and it is ooooh so lovely. I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin pie. I mean I don't hate it, but I'd much rather have something a bit sweeter if I'm going to eat pie. Well this recipe is just that. It's pumpkin pie all sweetened up. Just look at it!!

Thrive in your Hive Thursday - Finding your Mojo

Image
Hello and welcome back. As I was preparing for " Thrive in your hive " today, I scanned various organizational ideas, I looked for some fun organizational idea in my craftroom to share with you... and nothing was inspiring me.  This led me to redirect this post. Thriving in your hive sometimes means kickstarting your mojo.  When I want to craft, but just don't know what I want to create, I find browsing Pinterest, looking through a magazine or even just sifting through my supplies will usually spark an idea. I have been inspired by the Target flyer in Sunday's paper.  Take a look at this photo.  Immediately, I think about making a card with some sort of green background and a pop of orange, or perhaps a green fabric tote bag with a cute poppy red iron on design. Or this image.  Wouldn't it be cute to make a card with 3 lemon slices going up the side or across the bottom (I know, these are blood oranges). This photo reminds me of that new

Golden Grilled Hamsteaks

Image
Easter is almost here and this is the perfect time for me to share our Go-To receipe for Easter Ham!  It is my family's favorite ham recipe, and it's oh so easy!! Golden Grilled Ham Steaks This is just the best ever recipe for ham steaks on the grill. We're doing it for Easter. Doug's sister cooked this for us a couple years ago and the kids (and I) went wild for it. It's the best ham I've ever had.. and I'm not even exaggerating! When you buy a ham, take it to the meat counter and ask the butcher to cut it into 1" steaks. Yes, I said 1". I bought a 1/2 a ham and he cut it into about 7 steaks.... it takes about 3 steaks to feed my family of 5 (if Doug and Rich are here). So I just freeze the rest and use them in the same way later. Golden Grilled Ham Steaks: Mix in a gallon ziplock bag: 1/2 Ham cut into 1" steaks.  (Note:  3 1" steaks feeds 4-5 people) 1 Cup Ginger Ale 1 Cup Orange Juice 1/2 C Firmly packed bro

Weed It Wednesday with Lorrie

Image
Hello everyone!  It's another Weed It Wednesday!  Today, I wanted to feature weeding with cardstock!  When we talk "weeding" our minds automatically go to vinyl or iron on. But, check out the weeding on this Mother's Day Card I created in Design Space.  Using the correct Cricut mat and settings really help cut down on the weeding.  I prefer to use the Blue Medium Grip mat for cardstock and the cardstock setting for my favorite Cricut Cardstock. If you'd like to make to make this card, I"ve got a step by step tutorial for you:

It's Favorites Friday! Let's talk trimmers!

Image
Hello!  I'm Lorrie and today I want to talk about Trimmers!  It's Favorites Friday and I want to tell you about my Favorite Trimmer! First things first... my favorite trimmer is.... drumroll please.... The Fiskars Procision Trimmer! Let me tell you why.  I am a lefty, so quite often trimmers only have numbers/measurements on one end which is always oriented for a right handed person.  When I use this trimmer, the blade is on the left side (completely opposite of the photo).  As you can see the measurements are on both ends of the trimmer and they are oriented so that if the trimmer is turned around they are right side up.  Genius! I've tried at least 20 different trimmers and believe me, I want to love every one of them, but, as a lefty.. many leave me wanting more from my trimmer.  Guillotine trimmers, which are my preference, absolutely have to be used with your right hand.  Many rotary blade trimmers don't cut correctly with the left hand.  It's somethi

Make It Monday! Earbud holder tutorial!

Image
Welcome to another Make It Monday here with Lorrie!  Today, I'm revisiting an old project with a twist. A while back I made these cute ear bud cases, they are super simple, but last night I decided to make another one using a Pioneer Woman Placemat I purchased at Walmart!  This saves so much time and makes it really fast project! You can see the placemat below, the on top you see the finished pouch!  How cute is that! Here's one more version for you.  If you'd like to see how to make these, you're in luck!  I've got a video tutorial for you.
